About the Author
MIKE OFFIT began a twenty-year Wall Street career after graduating from Brown University, abandoning advertising, and earning an MBA from Columbia University. He rose to become a senior trader at Goldman Sachs, and to head the commercial mortgage and asset-backed securities trading desks at First Boston, Prudential, and finally at Deutsche Bank, where, as a managing director, he built and ran the Street's leading commercial real estate finance business. After retiring, he returned to writing, becoming a columnist and contributing editor at the luxury lifestyle bible Departures magazine. He lives in New York City and Bedford, New York, with his wife and their two children.

An authentic tale of how Wall Street really works

Given all the stories that came out of the financial crisis on how the big Wall Street firms manipulated markets and knowingly sold their clients bad deals to rack up huge fees, Mr. Offit's tale shouldn't be shocking. Yet reading his first-hand accounts of the personalities, culture, language and cynicism of the industry is still chilling. Add in a nice murder mystery and some hot women and you have a very engaging read!

Nothing Personal is a murder mystery that happens to take place among the backstabbing, no-holds barred denizens of finance. While it’s clear that Mike Offit knows Wall Street—he makes finance accessible to everybody—his debut novel is a drama about people first. I particularly like the descriptions: “With his heavy Queen accent, three-piece suits and watch chains, it made the general impression of being a porn actor dressed like a banker.” A quick, fun read that hooked me early…

Nothing Personal is an absorbing character driven story that perfectly captures the world of Wall Street (with a gripping mystery to boot).
I haven't had much time to read for pleasure lately, so I tend to be discerning about what I choose. After seeing the Wolf of Wall Street a few weeks ago, I took a chance on Nothing Personal--and I'm glad I did.
Even if you only have time for one book this month, you won't be disappointed with this one.
